I've had my computer for x years. Can I get a new one?

We are obliged as a state agency to get the full service life out of the technology we purchase, so only under exceptional circumstances will we replace a computer before its useful life is used up. As a rule, we replace computers every 4 years. Macs typically last 5 years before needing replacement. We keep track of when every computer on campus was purchased and we have a standardized process for purchasing and configuring replacements on a timely basis.

If you are having performance issues with your computer, please submit a help desk ticket and the Desktop Support team will work with you to get the best performance out of your equipment. We can also tell you exactly when your computer was purchased and when it is scheduled to be replaced.
